    - large waiting room area. - decent sized bar where you can also order food (if you don't want to wait for a table). - Atmosphere is modern and clean. A nice place to meet up friends - they throw eggs at you rather than shrimp like other places. - rice wa

I ate here recently and noticed attention to detail has really gone downhill. We sat at the sushi bar for some quick sushi. This is my first visit back in a while and noticed several things lacking just from our quick visit; The miso soup was lukewarm and tasted like a cheap soup mix, the tempura fried soft shell crab for my roll was unlike any tempura I've ever seen, more like fried chicken batter than tempura. On a good note the sushi chefs were personable and friendly, however the waitresses seemed aloof and not very attentive. This place has a lot of potential and it would be nice to have a quality Japanese restaurant in Fort Smith, but based on my experience last night and other critical reviews, it has a ways to go to earn my business again. I hope the owners/management read this and other review sites and make serious changes in their approach to serving quality Japanese food.

Fuji, I dub the "Little Shop of Horrible"... What a disaster! I went here at the behest of my co-worker who thought it looked good. We sat at a regular table and ordered mostly sushi. I knew we were in trouble when I tasted the miso nasty.... It tasted WAY salty and like powder! But when they brought the Tuna Tataki to the table butchered, it was over! I have never seen TT ruin but such amateur cuts in my life! Flavor was questionable at best. I am thankful that I ordered only a veggie roll and eel. When the plate was put in front of my co-worker I was horrified and felt sick. His fish was so not fresh and was very poor in quality. He was sick most of the night. He bit into what looked like rubber, ick. The waitress was terrible! She messed up his order and never told him what he was eating (chefs choice)... ridiculous. Seriously, I don't care how desperate you may be, stay away from this place or you'll be sick!

The location looks nice. The food leaves so much to be desired, it was so unappetizing. I ordered Salmon Roe sushi to start, but didn't enjoy it from first bite. The nori wrapper was so moist when you bite it fights back. Ordered the seafood Yaki w/hibachi noodles. The menu looks like Yakisoba, what I received looked and tasted off. Pale slippery shrimp a couple veg and loose scallops. There was a cup of some unknown dipping sauce that tasted like mayo sitting in my plate? WTH was that for? The food was just nasty, a cup a noodle would have made more sense. I'll never come back, ever. The earlier reviews were right, ambiance is just okay, but no taste. Lastly, the noise level created by the staff was noticeable. Clearing tables, pouring and throwing ice in a trash bin next to guests who are eating. A waiter loudly drops a stack of menus next to the bar YET keeps walking. Other staff step over said menus... about 5min later another person picks them up. Again, I'll never return. Ever.

I'm giving this a three star and next time a possibly 4 star. I used to not like fujis due to their menu and service. I recently went back with a friend and it seems like the menu has updated. For the price, the sushi is great. Service has definitely picked up and is a lot better.

WORST SUSHI IN TOWN. With a competitor like Sake in town, step your game up!! $70 tab for bs sushi? Never again will I spend my money there. Idk if its management or the quality of their sources but, the fish is NOT fresh and/or kept at the right temperature. Fuji's was a decent establishment when it first opened. What happened?! I expected my sushi to be fresh, rolled tight, and have a good presentation. What I got was disappointment on a plate with a $70 tab to follow.

I love this place! We go at least once a week. The hibachi, of course, is always wonderfully prepared with fun chefs and the sexy sauce is always a customer favorite. The sushi is the best in Fort Smith. I personally love the temptation of fire. This is a roll served on fire and is just a mixture of awesome warm flavors. If you have kids, I suggest the marble sodas! This place has never let me down.

You can get decent basic sushi and sashimi at Fuji. Not as good as the better sushi joints on the West Coast, but hey hillbilly, you're in Fort Smith. Try the Spider Roll (fried soft shell crab), or the rainbow roll combo. The unagi was OK, but not awesome. The tuna and salmon sushi were fresh and good. Try their seaweed salad - it's like Japanese soul food.

The food is great but the service is terrible. If you want sushi set at the sushi bar or you will regret it. Never let them set you in the room next to the sushi bar (door opens to the waiting area), the staff can't see you and we have had to walk out twice after being set in there.

I travel a lot and like to hit sushi places for dinner. I usually belly up to the bar. Location and condition of the place were nice. Rolls are rolls pretty much so I'll skip those. The sushi was okay. Tuna and salmon were good but the yellowtail was below average...chewy and had a bad finish taste. They also had too much rice per piece. I cut the rice in half. Overall dinner rating was just okay.

I have sushi here weekly. Jeff the sushi chef is great. Always something new to try and never disappoints. He mice and matches flavors and textures perfectly. Best Fuji in Arkansas. Management is great and always friendly and available.

Food was ok, but nothing to write home about. The hibachi chef was quite entertaining as we had 3 children with us and he did pay special attention to the children and they were quite entertained. The rice was somewhat undercooked the vegetables were overcooked and I ordered shrimp and scallops and at $25 you would think you get more than 6 shrimp and four scallops. But it really was fun to see the look on the children's face

Service was much better this time. Far less crowded. The Volcano roll & Tempura shrimp nearly filled me up. So, to-go box has tomorrow's lunch; scallop and shrimp. Yum.

Once in a while I'll have sushi cravings... then order Fuji's take out. Food is consistently good, fresh and pretty. My favorite roll is their California roll: cucumbers, avocado, masago, and a unique stringy imitation crab meat. The tempura is a bit sad when ordered on take out. Only few knock downs I have of the place is that sometimes the staff could be a bit snobby, and prices are a bit high for the amount of food given.

This was my third visit here. We always do the hibachi, food is very good and fun to have prepared in front of you. The only downside is that the "show" is pretty much the same each time and you can catch it at other settings in the immediate area, but I still like the food.

    (4)
  • Alured P.

Didn't try the sushi here so I can only comment on the hibatchi part of the restaurant. Pretty much the standard food options, prepared well and with good presentation. Especially fun in a larger group. A range of drink options and really good White Russians.

The only reason I gave it more than one star is because part of the food was kind of okay. sushi is sushi... On the other hand, the hostess was rude, the wait was long(45 min on a Tuesday night), the service was terrible, our orders were messed up, and the drinks were horrible. We clearly asked for a table when we walked in, as we were not planning on getting hibachi that night. We went in for sushi. When we FINALLY got called back, they drug our group of four, and another group of 6 or 7 to the hibachi grill and sat us down. They began taking our order. One of us got hibachi, the rest got sushi. Immediately the waitress seemed annoyed and inconvenienced that the rude hostess sat us there. In front of the other group, she made us all look like idiots by saying "AT LEAST HALF THE GROUP HAS TO ORDER HIBACHI TO SIT HERE. I'M GOING TO HAVE TO GO ASK AND SEE IF ITS OKAY IF YOU STAYED AT THESE SEATS" I was already irritated at this dumb waitress, so I just told her to find us a table and we'll move. They moved us to some secluded room in the back where our waiter took over the ticket. It took him 10 minutes to even see us. 30 minutes after we got moved, the hibachi order finally came to the table. Which was cold and unappealing. When that meal was almost finished, we FINALLY got our sushi. We were there for at least 3 hours and experienced nothing but trashy service, food, and experience. Save your money and go out somewhere where you know you will have a good experience. This was $140 of garbage. P.S. Don't worry about getting too dressy for this place like we did. There were people dressed in camo and hunters orange. :/

Save your money or go to ShoGun. The food wasn't good, they screwed up our orders and completely forgot mine on MOTHER'S DAY. All to the tune of $100. Thanks for nothing. The bar does look nice when you first walk in. Maybe just a drink or two. If you've got money to blow. Otherwise, skip this place.

New sushi place so of course I want to check it out. Thankfully, we were in the company of great friends to make up for what seemed to be a place that was just off somehow. The atmosphere is nice and intimate. There was a strange and subtle mildew like smell which if you've read my other reviews is a huge caution sign in my book. Automatic 1 star deduction. Service: was lacking. It could've been because they were new that it seemed very unorganized. New and a bit unorganized I can handle but not providing the basics like straws, extra plates, etc is basic service, like putting on your shoes before you leave the house. That's a given that shouldn't require customers to wait for long lengths of time to ask for these things. Food:We ordered a mix of sushi favorites to sample, which were good. Not great but good. I ordered a side of hibachi noodles and they weren't close to as good as their price would lead you to believe. Overall, we had a great night with the best of friends so it was fine. Would I go back? maaaybe. Good enough to visit if you're not in a hurry(and we weren't) A decent sushi resturant in a town that is lacking in that area to say the least.

So I end up returning with a group of friends who all wanted to tried the habachi grill, and that had to be the worst the mistake of my day. The service was AWFULLY slow, our server was a douchebag, and HORRIBLE food. From the time we waited to be seating till they finished cooking our food, I say we were there for 3 long/annoying hours. THIS place has ery unorganized workers and needs to revise their plan to accommodate their customers, or it WILL be another business failure in the area. I planned on leaving a review the night I was sitting there, but their chef distracted me by throwing a piece of egg on me and left a grease stain on my shirt. I did not care so much for the "show" because by this time we were all hungry and wanted our food!

Terrible service, had to use a fork to eat the sushi (kept falling apart) and they sat us in a room where they played the happy birthday song back to back at least six times. No, we were not eating with any children, but the music playing and the big tv certainly made me think they sat is in some nightmare daycare. There were plenty of other empty seats throughout the restaurant. Also, the waiter brought tempura chicken instead of the shrimp that was ordered and told us we would like it because it was just like chicken fingers and that if he had to fix it, it would come out of his check. Food was definitely not worth the money and the rest was even worse.

Fuji isn't thaaaat bad after you get seated. I have never waited longer for a seat at a Hibachi grill then I did at this Fuji location. I understand their policy of not seating a party until everybody has arrived but once notified, the wait-time is unacceptable. The average wait, the five times I've eaten here, has been about 40 minutes (this is after the entire party has arrived). The hostess staff has never been pleasant. With that being said, the Hibachi chefs are funny and skilled. The waiters are good and keep the courses coming. The food is somewhat bland at times but not always.

Typical chain restaurant sushi and Hitachi. Both probably the best you'll get in Fort Smith but neither exceptional anywhere else. If you want sushi though this is where to go in the Fort. Relatively fresh with your usual array of rolls speciality and the standards. Nigri has always been good.

I have been eating here since it opened. And LOVE IT!! I have only been eating sushi for about the past 2 years. I travel alot for my work and have eaten it all over. This is not the best sushi I have ever eaten but it is very good IMO. Southern California Roll is awesome. My family and I usually eat at a regular table having Sushi and some soup. But when we do have the hibachi grill it is excellent. The chefs are very funny and interact well with there table. I will admit that when they first came into business it was very unorganized. So much that we didn't go back for a month or so. But it seemed that they had the bugs worked out for the most part. Most places have some disorganization when they first open, its to be expected. All in all I think this is a great place. And would recommend it to anyone.
